Our story

An independent family House,
rooted in longevity
Maison Monravel draws its inspiration from the legacy of Louis de Montravel, a 19th-century botanist and Constance’s ancestor. A great traveller in love with nature, he devoted his life to rare and medicinal plants, whose virtues he studied as closely as their beauty.
In the wake of this pioneering spirit, Constance de Monravel and Marguerite de Monravel, a pharmacist with a passion for plants and fragrance, founded the House that bears his name. From their garden on the Emerald Coast, they travel the world in search of rare essences, chosen for their virtues as much as for their olfactory expression, and composed in Grasse with a French perfumer.
For their debut collection, they imagined six elegant and deeply restorative candles and scented stones. Launched in October 2025 at Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche in Paris, Maison Monravel can now be found at a few chosen addresses, among them Liberty in London and 10 Corso Como in Milan.
“From petals to resins, from sea breezes to precious woods, each fragrance we create pays homage to our botanical heritage while infusing it with a distinctly contemporary sensibility.”
Constance and Marguerite de Monravel

A botanical heritage
Louis de Montravel was born in 1823 in Joyeuse, in the heart of the Vivarais in Ardèche. Educated in Paris, Lyon and Grenoble, he developed a passion for botany, natural history and literature. A learned botanist, he assembled a remarkable herbarium over the course of his travels, guided by his fascination with rare and medicinal plants.
A member of the learned society of natural history of Lyon, the National Society for the Protection of Nature and the Society of Sciences and Letters of Ardèche, he devoted his life to the study and preservation of plant species.
The viscount died in 1909, leaving a legacy of archives, herbariums and writings that still bear witness to his visionary view of the living world.
An exacting, sensitive and sustainable vision.
An independent French family House, Maison Monravel cultivates a deep commitment to quality, craftsmanship and meaning. From the noblest raw materials to the precision of each gesture, every detail is carefully considered to bring beauty, elegance and authenticity, with respect for nature and all living things.
Our botanical candles are poured with care in the Loire Valley. Our jars are crafted in Tuscany by master glassmakers, and designed to be reused. Our Scented Stones are carved from Lutetian limestone in La Roche-Guyon.
